View welcomes announcements of recent achievements of Favorite Sons & Daughters who have attended local schools. Achievements may run the gamut from earning a college degree to successfully climbing Mount Everest. Aurelia D. Houston, 18, graduated from Cimarron-Memorial High School in June with a high honors diploma, a White academic letter and a GPA of 4.2. Houston was named an Academic National Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and has received numerous academic achievement awards.
During her high school years, she competed in three varsity sports -- volleyball, soccer and track and field -- was selected for the All-Northwest teams in volleyball and soccer, and received the track and field Spartan Athletic Award for 2007.
Houston, the daughter of Billy and Donna Houston of Las Vegas, received a scholarship in Track and Field from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is enrolled for the fall.
David Sage, son of Tim and Karen Sage of Henderson, graduated May 20 from California State University, Northridge, with a bachelor of arts degree in cinema and television arts. His degree includes an emphasis in multi-media production.
Sage, a 2003 graduate of Green Valley High School, was one of 656 students out of 4,274 to make his college's dean's list. He resides in Burbank, Calif.
Mandi Incorvaia was awarded a golf and academic scholarship to Southern Utah University in Cedar City.
Incorvaia, who graduated in June from Palo Verde High School, maintained a GPA of 3.9 throughout high school, while captaining the girls golf team for three of the four years she played.
In golf, she finished in the top 10 in the state three times, her best finish being fourth.
Incorvaia, the daughter of Diane and Tom Incorvaia of Las Vegas, hopes to make a career in the field of golf.
Greg Keys, 15, earned his Eagle Scout Award on March 13.
For his Eagle Scout project, Keys, the son of David and Connie Keys of Las Vegas, solicited donations to feed and entertain 500 people at the Make-A-Wish family picnic in October 2006.
Keys enjoys tennis and snowboarding, was a member of the Spanish Club and the Make-A-Wish Club and was student ambassador at The Meadows High School.
