Reader response to our View Cartoon Caption Contest has been overwhelming. Hundreds of people across Southern Nevada are studying Mike Miller's cartoons each month and coming up with hilarious captions.

The caption contest has been so popular that we're creating a variety of ways for our talented readers to become "citizen journalists," helping us to assemble a more interesting and diverse newspaper each week.

In addition to the ongoing caption contest, please send us contributions for these new features: VACATION PHOTOS

Did you take an awesome sunset picture during your vacation in Hawaii? How about a great shot of a surfacing whale taken during an Alaskan cruise? Maybe your trip to Paris or London yielded a memorable image. Hit us with your best shots and we'll consider publishing them in the Views.

PET PHOTOS

We know you have funny or flattering pictures of your pets. Rather than keeping them to yourself, send the best ones to us and we'll consider publishing them in the paper. Dogs, cats, monkeys, snakes -- OK, maybe not snakes! But if it's cute and in focus, we want to see it.

VEGAS MEMORIES

Attention, Las Vegas natives and longtime residents! Tell us about the good ol' days. What do you remember, good and bad, about Las Vegas before the megaresorts and traffic jams? Did you have a favorite restaurant or store that's no longer in business? What did you do for fun back when slot machines had handles to pull? Write us an e-mail and we'll consider putting it in print.
