The Clark County Public Education Foundation selected the Henderson Community Foundation as its August 2006 donor of the month, recognizing the group for thousands of dollars in support for the Clark County Reads Initiative this school year.

Over the past couple of years, one focus of the community foundation was to adopt at-risk elementary schools in Henderson, paying their way through the reading initiative that encourages youths to read by distributing new books that students can keep.
