A modern throwback
Advance tour offers a glimpse of vintage decor with a twist
By JAN HOGAN VIEW STAFF WRITER
Sammy, Frank and Dean would feel right at home at the soon-to-open Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. A recent media sneak peek tour showed the decor to be a throwback to the retro-Vegas days of the Rat Pack.
Heavy on the use of sandstone wall accents and marble floors, the overriding tone is rich in earthy colors with plenty of chandeliers using more than 300 million crystals.

Rancho basketball team surprises in postseason

They weren't predicted to win their division, or their region, and they certainly weren't expected to make it all the way to the state championship game this year.
But flying under the radar and playing with a talented group of upperclassmen with big hearts served Rancho High School's basketball team very well this past season as the Rams went further than any other Class 4A boys team in Southern Nevada, ultimately losing to Reno, 87-63, in the championship game held Feb. 24 at Lawlor Events Center in Reno.

Red Rock center exhibit gets update
Old displays revamped and interactive additions made before this month's opening
By JAN HOGAN VIEW STAFF WRITER
The displays had dated photographs. The taxidermy animals were dusty and chewed by worms. Information was delivered by audio hand-held wands. All in all, the exhibit hall at Red Rock Canyon Conversation Area's Visitors Center was, well, uninspiring.
All that's changed.
