Event offers fresh fruits, vegetables, salsa and crafts

The birds were twittering, the temperature was practically perfect and the wind was still on a recent morning in downtown Henderson. Eager vendors at the Country Fresh Farmers Market were hoping locals would take advantage of the spring weather by strolling through their booths.
There was fresh fruit, vegetables, handmade baskets, porcelain dolls, jewelry and more on display under temporary canopies in a parking lot on Pacific Street, between Market Street and Atlantic Avenue.

K-9 Therapists visit hospitals, assisted living centers
Volunteer dog owners take pets to visit medical facilities throughout the valley

Cody, a 4 1/2-year-old small mix Bernese mountain dog, is used to a lot of attention. There's always someone waiting for him to visit, to pet him or to watch him do tricks.
He is one of Las Vegas' 150 K-9 therapists and he visits hospitals and assisted living centers every week.
