MISSION TO MEXICO: Living up to its name
New Hope church members cross the border to help build a new home

New Hope Lutheran Church doesn't have a home of its own. Its Sunday services are held at Faith Lutheran High School. But the New Hope congregation is intent on building homes for others.

For the past six years, members have driven to an area just outside Tijuana, Mexico, to construct simple but sturdy homes for needy families who live in the area.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: On top of the world
Durango graduate part of national champion OSU team

He certainly made the right choice.

After being recruited to play college baseball by Long Beach State, Texas Tech, Brigham Young and Kansas, among others, Durango High School graduate Koa Kahalehoe decided to attend Oregon State University last fall. Now, with a College World Series championship under his belt to go along with the American Legion state championship he won two summers ago with Durango Post 76, Kahalehoe is looking pretty smart right about now.
