Exposure to the sun is optional for today's tan

BLas Vegas offers plenty of warm, sunny days to lay out by the pool and obtain the perfect tan, but this might not be safe or healthy for your skin. There are ways to keep your skin golden brown all year long with less risk.

Many tanning salons around town now have spray booths. With a spray-on tan users are not exposed to any UV rays.

GIVING BACK: Fast-paced fundraiser
Athletes' efforts net $1,087 for officer's family

Proving graciousness has nothing to do with age, the student body at first-year high school Arbor View raised nearly $1,100 in two minutes in its Cash in a Flash fundraiser held in May at a spring assembly for Dawn Prendes, the wife of Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Henry Prendes, who was slain in February.

The idea for the two-minute fundraiser was built around the goal of raising money for a college fund for Prendes' two daughters -- Kylee and Brooke. And the Arbor View Letterman's Club made good use of its first act of philanthropy.
