Fire academy seeks applications for class
The Citizens Fire Academy is accepting applications for the class of 2006, which runs from February through May. There is no cost and classes will meet once each week for three hours.
The class has been expanded to include a tour of some of the other valley fire departments and possibly one other field trip. The academy seeks to provide insight into public safety operations the general public may not be aware of. Simple emergency procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and fire prevention also are taught in the class.
Applications are available at fire headquarters or on the city's Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov on the fire department link under 2006 CFA application. For more information, call the CFA hot line at 229-0146. The academy is available only once each year.
