Our atomic past
Former Nevada Test Site employee gives time to museum

Stuart Black will be 87 in March.

The 35-year veteran of the Nevada Test Site cannot imagine why people think radiation causes lives to be shortened. He even wonders if exposure might have prolonged his life in some way. He compares it to selenium exposure -- too much can kill you but too little can also be bad.

Council calls for Curves to compromise

The Henderson City Council at its Jan. 3 regular meeting voted to uphold the planning commission's prior approval of a new Curves gym facility at 12211 S. Eastern Ave.

Neighbors had pushed to keep the women's gym out of their area, fearing increased traffic and noise would put a damper on their property values.
