Honors keep coming in for UE's Lambert

Kayla Lambert, a 2005 graduate of Palo Verde High School and freshman at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind., was chosen by Soccer Buzz Magazine as a third-team selection on its NCAA Division I Freshman All-America team. The honor was the first for an Evansville player since Krista McKendree was selected for the NSCAA's All-America team in 2000.

Soccer Buzz also chose Lambert as a member of its All-Great Lakes Region Second Team and its Great Lakes Region All-Freshman First Team. Lambert was chosen earlier this month as a second team selection on the NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division I Women's All-Great Lakes Region soccer team.

Lambert finished as the nation's seventh leading scorer with 45 points for an average of 2.37 points per match. Lambert also finished 10th nationally in goals per game (0.89) and 16th in assists (0.58). Lambert's 45 points tied UE's single-season scoring record, while her 11 assists were the most in school history and her 17 goals were the second most.

Lambert also led the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring, finishing with twice the number of points as the league's runner-up. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference's Freshman of the Year, and was one of only two freshmen chosen first team all-conference.

Lambert's scoring helped Evansville improve from 3-13-1 in 2004 to 10-8-1 in 2005 as UE reached the MVC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2002.
