Local adventurer determined to finish world's toughest race
By JIM KONST SPECIAL TO VIEW
Local resident Ronn Bailey was in Portugal recently preparing for his second Dakar Rally, which started Dec. 31. He brought his mother with him as he traveled over Christmas, as it would be the closest he could come to a family holiday. She also was there to cheer him on at the beginning of the race in Lisbon, Portugal.
"I have several reasons for entering another Dakar Rally," Bailey said. "First and foremost, I'm looking forward to the adventure and the experience. It's the ultimate adventure for me, and the course is completely different this year.
