Amanda Marks, a sixth-grader at The Meadows School, has been named the 2006 Pacific Coast Section's Women's Foil Fencer of the Year for youth ages 12 and under.

Amanda has been fencing for 3 1/2 years and began traveling to out-of-state tournaments this past year. After winning one bronze, one silver and two gold awards in the section's four-tournament series, Amanda earned the section's top honor, the Golden Sword.

Tara Wellman Paterson, daughter of Ron Paterson and Kitty Wellman, will graduate in May from the University of Southern California.
