A permanent exhibit called "Africa: The Source" has been added by Left of Center Art Gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road, North Las Vegas, with the goal of celebrating black history.
The exhibit includes masks, sculptures, musical instruments, textiles and other pieces from Africa, with displays ranging from traditional to contemporary.
Gallery hours are 1-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Philharmonic to present Mozart
The Las Vegas Philharmonic will celebrate Mozart's birth 250 years ago with an orchestral program at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at UNLV, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Tickets are priced from $25 to $66, with a 10 percent discount offered for senior citizens and students.

Fort allows children free admission
The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park will allow children 12 years old and younger free admission when accompanied by one paying adult, every second Saturday of the month through this year.
The park holds special events and activities to make history fun for children.
Entrance fees for adults are $3
The park is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is located at 500 E. Washington Ave., reachable by phone at 486-3511.

Storytime scheduled at library branch
The North Las Vegas Library District announced bilingual storytime events that will be offered in English and Spanish.
Stories, crafts and other family oriented activities will be held at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23, March 9 and 23, April 6 and 20, and May 11 and 25.

Residents given chance to compose
The National Symphony Orchestra is providing an opportunity to participate in its Summer Music Institute.
One Nevada resident will be selected to compose a chamber work performed in a future season. The application deadline is March 31.
