Clark County is accepting applications from local groups seeking grants to improve their neighborhoods through beautification, leadership training and community-building initiatives.
Allotments of up to $3,000 are available through the county's Neighborhood Grants Program.
"The program is designed to help residents in rural and urban areas to organize grass roots efforts to improve the social network and character of neighborhoods," said county spokeswoman Stacey Welling.
The grant categories are:
Neighborhood beautification/large project grants offer matching funds of up to $3,000, available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for projects such as landscaping, neighborhood cleanups, pedestrian-friendly improvements and public art. The deadline for applications is 6 p.m. Monday.
Leadership/training grants offer up to $599 to enhance the organizational and leadership skills of resident groups to make positive changes in their neighborhoods. Eligible programs may include neighborhood mediation efforts, and workshops on newsletter writing, grant writing, or land-use and zoning regulations. The deadline is 5 p.m. April 14.
Small project grants offer up to $250 for projects and events designed to help residents get to know each other and make their neighborhoods better places. Projects may include back-to-school events, festivals, picnics or parades. The deadline is 5 p.m. April 14.
"Our grants program gives residents a chance to improve our community one neighborhood at a time," said Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid. "We'd like to see as many neighborhood groups as possible apply for this funding."
Applications are available at www.accessclarkcounty.com, or at the Department of Administrative Services, on the sixth floor of the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
