ONE GOOD DEED DESERVES ANOTHER

Fire department response saves life

Around midnight on Feb. 2, a Henderson Fire Department team swiftly responded to a 911 call from the home of Joseph H. Bush.

Bush had just been released from the hospital following heart surgery, and his blood sugar was below 20.

"So they inserted an IV and took an EKG and injected a quick-acting sugar fluid and continued to monitor me until I regained consciousness and my blood sugar was elevated," Bush said. "They said if unattended, another few minutes would have been too late."

Bush was so appreciative, he immediately sent a letter to the Henderson Fire Department to applaud the response team.

"Not only were they efficient, they were extremely courteous throughout. I can never thank them enough, but I'd sure like to try," Bush wrote.

"They literally saved my life," he said. "This begs the question, 'How frequently does this happen? How many other people have they saved or rescued quietly and without fanfare?'

"They perform their jobs superbly and I just want to do my part in letting them know they are appreciated."
