The Meadows School celebrated Chinese New Year with their 10th annual performance at the Forum Shops at Caesars.

Students performed a Chinese dragon dance and sang four songs in Chinese while parading through the shops.

The dance featured red and gold costumes (Chinese colors of joy), drums and firecrackers (to keep evil spirits away) and two large and colorful dragons (powered by students).

This year, they celebrated the Year of the Dog.

The students also did a short performance at the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The cast of singers and dancers included 120 Meadows students 60 from kindergarten and 60 from fifth grade.

Kindergarten teacher Linda Verbon and librarian Marilyn Drake worked with all of the kindergarten and fifth grade teachers to organize the event.

Volunteer Maggie Chen taught Chinese lyrics and customs to the students, while Meadows School Music Director Jeff Kriske helped coordinate the performance.
