Golf Magazine salutes Lake Las Vegas Resort

Lake Las Vegas Resort went from a silver medal in 2004 to a gold in 2006 in Golf Magazine's biennial survey.

Based on the opinions of Golfonline users and Golf Magazine subscribers, Lake Las Vegas Resort was rated on golf, customer service, available amenities and overall luxury.

This year's Golf Magazine rankings include 25 gold medalists and 50 silver medalists. Lake Las Vegas Resort continues to expand its golf offerings, with its fourth course Rainbow Canyon Golf Club to be designed by Tom Fazio. The course will sit adjacent to Reflection Bay Golf Club on the destination's northern shore. Slated to open next year, the 18-hole, par-72 course will stretch from the lake's shoreline to the Rainbow Garden Geological Preserve.

Desert Springs noted for surgical excellence

Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center has been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.

The designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery, or surgery for obesity.

Desert Springs has been offering bariatric surgery through The Center for Surgical Weight Loss since October 2004.

To earn a Center of Excellence designation, Desert Springs underwent a series of site inspections to examine all aspects of the program's surgical process and patient data and outcomes.
