When Issa Khoury opened Khoury's Fine Wine & Spirits in September 2004, his goal was to get his customers to try new wines, rather than always leaving with the same old things.

"He wants to help people find something different to try, to expand their knowledge," said Nura Khoury, Issa's wife. "He wants customers to come in and ask questions about wine and spirits and feel comfortable that if they ask any sort of question, they'll get an answer."

Fast, faster, fastest -- words Civil Air Patrol cadet Lt. Col. Tiffani Heinreich of North Las Vegas knows by heart. Words that are ingrained in her being, with the accent on "fastest."

If the high-performance SR-71 Blackbird were still in operation, Heinreich would want to be at the controls.

BC/Hoover Dam Museum exhibit celebrates 75 years

By FRED COUZENS

Visiting the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum's newest exhibit is like stepping into a world of déjá vu.

Headlines reading "Boulder City is destined to grow," "Proposed bypass could make Boulder City a ghost town," and "Many outside developers studying our city as future site of development" may be from the 1940s, '50s and '60s, but they still ring true today.

Some find the company of bees anything but calming. But Las Vegas resident Jeremy "The Bee Man" Shane said he finds it very relaxing to get inside a hive and oversee the bees' work.

He keeps about 12 hives, or starts of hives, in his backyard in east Las Vegas, and 32 more hives at several other locations in the valley. In spring, he situates queen bees in each hive and then watches as each hive grows strong and independent.
