Kierre Alexander was named the No Place for Hate student of the month for January at Cozine Elementary School in North Las Vegas.

Kierre is a fifth-grader in Joel Skinner's class. He received the award for being an excellent role model for other students and for not being afraid to speak up when someone is being teased or bullied.

Kierre is very accepting of others, and is known for his good nature inside and out of the classroom.

Ellie Smith, a 9-year-old fourth-grader at St. Viators Elementary School, has been invited to sing the national anthem prior to the start of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game on July 5 at Dodger Stadium.

Ellie, the daughter of Rick and Geri Smith of Henderson, often sings before local sporting events, sometimes singing up to three times per weekend.

Ellie, who has won numerous awards for her singing, played Annie in the Broadway Bound Youth Theatre's version of that play this year, and also loves tap and jazz dance, playing the piano and tennis. She hopes to make singing her career when she grows up.

Alexandra Keft, age 10, a student at Staton Elementary School in Summerlin, took home two gold medals and one silver medal in fencing at the Vegas Cup fencing tournament.

Alexandra is the new Vegas Cup Champion in Youth 10 Women's Foil. She has trained for the last year under Yves Auriol at the Fencing Academy of Nevada.

Alexandra also studies ballet at the Nevada Ballet Theatre, where she has performed in the annual production of "The Nutcracker" for several years. She is fluent in French and Russian.
