The newest Edible Arrangements store has opened in Centennial Hills at 6454 Sky Pointe Drive, Suite 160.

At Edible Arrangements, fresh fruit including pineapple, grapes, honeydew, oranges, apples, cantaloupe and strawberries are arranged in bouquets that can feed up to 80 people.

Erin Hendriks, who works as a front services manager at the Rio, said she and her sister Catherine Baker were looking for a business to get involved with when an arrangement was delivered at her workplace.

"I thought it was a unique alternative to flowers and a practical gift," she said.

Edible Arrangements has five franchise locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. This is the first store in the northwest part of the valley. Hendriks said she wanted it close to her home.

The fruit in the basket can last up to four days when refrigerated. Some arrangements include chocolate-dipped strawberries and each assortment comes in a unique basket. Balloons, teddy bears and jars of fudge can be added to any basket.

Orders can be made in person, online or over the phone. All arrangements can be delivered. Orders placed before 11 a.m. can be delivered that day.

All fruit is delivered to the store fresh each day. The fruit is then cut, arranged and sold that day.

Hendriks said the staff prepares a few extra arrangements each day that can be sold without an order.

Debbie Stewart, who works at the store arranging baskets and taking orders, said six to eight baskets is a comfortable amount to make by herself in a day. When the store gets busy she works with other arrangers in an assembly line.

"When there aren't too many I'll grab one and do the whole thing," Stewart said. "I try to make it look balanced. Sometimes I take too long."

Sally Breach, the third sister in the family-run business, left her job after 25 years to manage the store.

"It's fun to work with the customers," Breach said. "They get so excited as we put together their arrangements."

Orders can be made at this store or from anywhere in the country as long as the area the basket will be delivered has a store. Gift certificates are available for any amount.

Edible Arrangements is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. For more information, visit www.ediblearrangements.com.
