After losing her mother to breast cancer this year, Henderson resident Katia MacDonald, 22, decided to participate in the 17th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk when a friend who works in one of Dana-Farber's research labs put a team together in honor of MacDonald's mother.

For the marathon held recently in Boston, MacDonald raised $200 in contributions and she is hoping to raise $4,000 in the coming weeks through her participation in another marathon.
