Up and running
GOODWILL OF SOUTHERN NEVADA

After a history of battling officials' negative stereotypes and building permit delays, the $8 million Goodwill of Southern Nevada headquarters finally opened in North Las Vegas' Cheyenne Technology Corridor in September and was dedicated Oct. 11.

The 74,000-square-foot facility, built on 4.5 acres at Cheyenne Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, replaces the nonprofit organization's overcrowded previous location at 3585 Patrick Lane.

Ready for Alamo
MOUNTAIN VIEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Just as Sam Houston's Texan Army made the phrase "Remember the Alamo" popular, Mountain View Christian School girls volleyball coach Crystal Van Kempen McClanahan hopes to make the phrase "Just beat Alamo" just as popular this year.

After winning the girls 1A state volleyball championship for the last eight years and nine out of the last 10, coaches in the Southern League as well as the entire state would all love to beat Pahranagat Valley, the team from Alamo some 95 miles north of Las Vegas which has essentially created its own volleyball dynasty in the 1A class.
