Although teams and individuals from the northern part of the Silver State were the top-finishers at the Class 4A Nevada State Cross Country Championships held on Nov. 5 at San Raphael Park in Reno, several high schools and runners from Southern Nevada strutted their stuff and left lasting impressions with the phenomenal seasons they had.
The boys teams from Southern Nevada that probably enjoyed the most success in the 4A class this fall was Silverado, which finished third at state behind second-place finisher Galena and champions Reno -- whose Joe Parker was the individual champ -- Shadow Ridge (fourth), Coronado (fifth) and Palo Verde (sixth).
