COMMUNITY BRIEFS

FUND-RAISERS

Help sought for Kids' Co-Op event

The Kids' Co-Op School is seeking donations and participants for its 18th annual auction and dinner fund-raiser, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 8 at the Harley Davidson Cafe.

The school, located at 4316 N. Decatur Boulevard, is for children ages 2 to 5 years old and is parent-cooperative, which means parents are required to participate.

"Research has shown that young children learn best through play and parental involvement, encouragement and support," school director Teri Johnston said. "We require that parents volunteer in the classroom and in the running of the school."

Kids' Co-Op has been around since 1983, and about 55 families have children in attendance there.

The auction is the school's biggest fund-raiser, and money earned will be used toward operating expenses.

For information about making a donation, attending the auction or enrolling at the school, call 656-6600 or visit www.kidscoop.org.

Law firm helps mentor program

The Snell & Wilmer law firm raised $19,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada Feb. 10 at its Bowl for Kids' Sake event at Jillian's inside Neonopolis.

About 100 participants from the local law community participated in the fundraiser.
