For Noel Taylor, 99, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's senior companions program has brought the opportunity to continue living independently in her own home. More importantly, the program has brought Taylor a friend to depend on and visits to look forward to five days each week in Iona Miller, a senior companions volunteer.

Taylor moved to Las Vegas from Fremont, Calif., with her husband after her daughter died 22 years ago. At the time she wanted to be closer to her sister, a Las Vegas resident.
