WATER POLO
Bonanza graduate named All-American
Chris Eichholz, a graduate of Bonanza High School and student at the University of California, Davis, was named to the Division II All-American water polo first team. The junior driver tied for the team lead with 48 goals and also was named a member of the All-Western Water Polo Association's first team. UCD lost to Redlands in the quarterfinals of the WWPA Championships.

All-star program seeking members

Cheyenne's Eppinger commits to UNLV
Perry Eppinger, a 6-4, 330-pound lineman from Cheyenne High School, committed to attend UNLV and is expected to sign Tuesday. Eppinger was named to the a first-team All-Southern Nevada selection on defense and a second-team selection on offense for the Desert Shields last season.
RUNNING
Rock the Rock Fun Run to benefit children
The annual Rock the Rock Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m. Feb. 12 at the scenic Spring Mountain State Ranch and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club. All participants will have a chance to win prizes, including a trip to Disneyland.

Athletes needed for Team Survivor 5K
Athletes of all ages, with and without disabilities, are invited to participate in the Team Survivor 5K Challenge, slated Sunday in conjunction with the Las Vegas Marathon.
The $30 entry fee includes a souvenir T-shirt, continental breakfast and lunch on event day, a pass to the International Marathon Expo to be held Friday and a ticket to the awards banquet to be held in February.
The Team Survivor portion of the course will be about 2.3 miles, but participants can opt for a 1-mile course. The Blind Center of Nevada will provide volunteer assistance and the Ability Center will supply transportation at the event for those who need it. Check-in for the Team Survivor 5K Challenge will begin at 10:15 a.m., with the event starting at 11 a.m. Pre-registration for the run/walk is required.

Seniors pickup games held Wednesdays
Seniors age 50 and over are invited to play non-checking pickup hockey at the Fiesta Ice Arena from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. every Wednesday. Interested players will not be committed to a league.

Association starts all-level classes
The Nevada Tennis Association is conducting classes for juniors and adults at various locations. The classes are for entry-level to intermediate players ages 5 and up. The fee is $45 per person for the six-week session.
Classes focus on the fundamental skills of tennis and improvement of those skills through hands-on instruction, drills, games and competitive play. Free racquets and balls are provided.
Classes will be held: Tuesdays at All American Park; Mondays at Angel Park; Tuesdays at Black Mountain Recreation Center; Thursdays at Bruce Trent Park; Saturdays at Bunker Park; Mondays at Duck Creek Park; Tuesdays at Morrell Park; Saturdays at Mountain Ridge Park; Thursdays at Paul Meyer Park; Saturdays at Thurman White Middle School; and Monday-Friday at Puccini Park.

Heinrich YMCA offers junior program
The YMCA of Southern Nevada is offering a special in its junior tennis program whereby participants can purchase six lessons for the price of four.
All tennis programs are held at the Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane. Beginners classes will be held 4 to 5: 30 p.m. Wednesdays, intermediate classes will be held 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, and advanced classes will be held 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Las Vegas Hawks are looking to fill roster
The 12-year-old-and-under Las Vegas Hawks are looking to fill a few roster spots with quality club ballplayers.
The Hawks are a traveling team that plays tournaments in and out of Las Vegas and are Little League-friendly, with most of its players participating in Little League including All-Stars. If interested, call 353-6145.

Redrock Little League
sign-ups scheduled
Redrock Little League will be holding its spring baseball sign-ups for boys and girls ages 5-18 (age as of Aug.1, 2005) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Red Rock Baptist Church, 5500 Alta Drive.
Sign-up fees are $75 for T-Ball and $100 for all other divisions.
There is a family discount for families with two or more players. Players must bring a copy of their birth certificate and proof of residence.
Redrock Little League's boundaries are west of Interstate 15, east of Rampart Boulevard/Fort Apache Road, north of Sahara Avenue and south of Washington Avenue.
