Bishop Gorman High School linebacker Ryan Reynolds was named to the first-team All-USA roster this season by USA Today. The 6-2, 220-pound senior, who also was named Nevada's Gatorade Player of the Year and Southern Nevada's Defensive Player of the Year, will be playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 15 in San Antonio.
Reynolds, who narrowed his choice of colleges down to UCLA and Oklahoma, also was named one of the five finalists for the Walter Payton Trophy, which will be awarded during the All-American Bowl. The trophy is awarded to the Myoplex Speed and Strength Athlete of the Year.

Remembering dad

Brittany Faber was 9 years old when she decided to change the world, one law at a time.
Her father, William Faber, was killed in a traffic accident by a driver under the influence of marijuana in 1997. During the prolonged legal process it took to convict the man responsible, Brittany spoke at Victim Impact Panels for the local Stop DUI organization.
