Public invited to ?help with quilt
Desert Quilters of Nevada seeks single quilt blocks from area youth and adults for inclusion in the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration community quilt.
Youth blocks are to be 10 1/2-inch squares of muslin or white fabric, decorated with crayon or fabric marker and signed. No part of the design can be within a quarter inch of the edges.
Adult blocks need to be one of three sizes: 6 1/2-inch square; 9 1/2-inch square; 6 1/2-inch-by-9 1/2-inch. Again, no design can reach closer than a quarter inch from the edges. The fabric choice is open and embellishment is encouraged.
Quilt blocks can be submitted until Monday.

Guest to share?stories set to music
Australian Tommy Emmanuel is slated to perform in the Acoustic Routes Concert Series, to be held 8 p.m. Sunday at 2753 S. Highland Drive.
Emmanuel is known for his guitar playing, storytelling and unique view on life. He is a veteran of the Grand Ole Opry, was the featured artist at the 2000 Olympic Games closing ceremonies and toured with notables such as music legends Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder and the late John Denver.

Free KidsStage?class offered
KidStage, a national youth drama organization, will offer a free KidStage class for children ages 4 to 16 from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday inside the conference room of the Summerlin Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Youngsters will have a chance to learn theater games, voice, movement, and theater terminology. In addition, children will perform skits at the end of class for parents and friends.
The class is open to the public, but class size is limited.
KidStage also will offer winter/spring classes for students in grades 6 through 8 at Becker Middle School, 9151 Pinewood Hills Drive, Summerlin.
Classes will be held from 2:20 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Wednesdays on Feb. 16 and 23, March 2, 9, 16 and 30 and April 6 and 13. There will be a production at the end of the class session at 6:30 p.m. April 15 in the school's theatre.
The fee is $120 per student. There are discounts for returning students, siblings and referrals.

Event to focus on ?HIV/AIDS awareness
The Clark County Health District on Saturday will join other Las Vegas community organizations in the fifth annual observance of HIV/AIDS Awareness and Information Day.
The objectives of the HIV/AIDS Awareness and Information Day are to educate the African American community, encourage testing and promote advocacy.
The health district said it will offer confidential HIV testing and will distribute HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment information from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following health district sites: Ravenholt Public Health Center, 625 Shadow Lane; North Las Vegas, 1820 E. Lake Mead Blvd., Suite F; East Las Vegas, 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12; Henderson, 129 W. Lake Mead Drive.
A rally supporting the HIV/AIDS Awareness and Information day also will be held at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
