A place to be sad
Camp helps youth come to terms with the loss of loved ones

Though she doesn't remember the father who died in an accident when she was just 11 days old, Hannah Farmer has always felt his absence.

"People don't understand how you can grieve for someone you have never met," the now 17-year-old Centennial High School student said. "It was difficult because I wish I could have talked to him and told him what was going on in my life."

New city manager hails from a long line of government planning officials

Mary Kay Peck's recent move from director of the city's Community Development department to assistant city manager is not only a career advancement. It's part of a family tradition.

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Peck was exposed to careers in city planning at a young age. Her great-uncle served as the assistant city manger in St. Paul, Minn., her grandfather was a realtor and her grandmother worked in Chicago's city hall.
