Green Valley resident Karen Durkin recently decided to take some time away from the boardroom to bring her communications savvy to the classroom at the University of Southern Nevada.

A nationally known speaker and communications consultant, Durkin was recently appointed assistant professor of management for USN's masters of business administration program, which welcomed its inaugural class in July. She will teach an entry-level course in communications aimed at improving students' all-around communications skills.
