Businesswomen plan lunch meeting
The American Business Women's Association/Las Vegas Executive Express Network luncheon meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lawry's restaurant, 4043 Howard Hughes Parkway. The speaker will be Nancy Becker, Nevada Supreme Court justice.

Restaurant association hosts events
The Nevada Restaurant Association will host the second annual Oktoberfest event for restaurant and allied members at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ellis Island Casino and Brewery. The event will feature guest speaker Rossi Ralenkotter, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The event is open to NRA members and prospective members only. Admission is complimentary and includes food and beverages courtesy of Ellis Island.
The NRA will also host its quarterly Political Action Committee luncheon at Ricardo's in Las Vegas at 11 a.m. Sept. 30. This event is open to the public, and the scheduled guest speaker is Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Steve Sebelius. Cost is $35, and admission benefits the NRA Political Action Committee's programs and legislative lobbying efforts.

NSA to host award banquet today
In accordance with National Staffing Employee Week, the Nevada Staffing Association (NSA) will help its member companies recognize outstanding temporary and contract employees at the first annual NSA Awards Banquet, set for 6 p.m. today at the Panevino Ristorante, 246 Via Antonio.
Cost is $25 per person, with a raffle and buffet dinner included. The keynote speaker will be American Staffing Association President James Essey.

Sting Surveillance releases new software
Sting Surveillance, a provider of web-based digital surveillance systems, recently announced the release of version 6.05 of their surveillance software.
Upgraded features include the ability to search video by point of sale transaction, count movement in and out of a designated area and the ability to listen to live audio while viewing real-time digital surveillance video online.

CONSTRUCTION
Projects develop around the valley
TWC Construction has commenced work on Decatur Crossing Business Park's first phase, a collaboration between TWC and LaPour Partners, Inc. TWC will build three office/warehouse concrete tilt-up facilities totaling 105,000 square feet located on 6.81 acres, located along the Las Vegas Beltway in southwest Las Vegas.
KeyOn Communications recently announced the expansion of its company headquarters, adding 2,200 square feet of additional office and warehouse space.
The Penta Building Group recently announced completion of several construction projects, including phase two of the Paris Theatre at the Paris Las Vegas, the Santa Fe Central Plant Relocation at the Santa Fe Station, and the remodeling of the All American Bar and Grill at the Rio.
Scandals Salon & Spa recently announced it is building a branch in the Shops at Flamingo and Fort Apache, one of the area's newest retail centers. The salon is scheduled to open in the spring with 8,4000 square feet.
Core Construction has been contracted by the Clark County School District to construct John M. Tartan Elementary School at the northeast corner of Statz Street and Tropical Parkway in North Las Vegas. The 66,000-square-foot school began Aug. 2 and is scheduled for completion in July 2005.

Nevada Federal supports charities
Nevada Federal Credit Union employees recently conducted a food drive to support the Clark County Community Food Bank.
Employees also donated person hygiene supplies to support Help of Southern Nevada. The donations went to the Displaced Homemaker Program, which helps support and train underemployed men and women to search for jobs which will enable them to become responsible, contributing members of the community.
