BASKETBALL
Tarkanian Academy offers new camps
The Tarkanian Basketball Academy has scheduled a camp April 5-8 at Christ the King Church. The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 6-17, and the registration fee is $95 per player.

Champs holding league sign-ups
Champs Youth Basketball is taking registration for its spring league, open to ages 8 through high school. Games are played in local high schools on both sides of town and the registration fee is $110 per player.
Cimarron-Memorial High School boys basketball head coach Steve Boyack is coordinator of the program, and local prep coaches Thad Simmons and Tom Hughes are directors. LITTLE LEAGUE
Redrock league has openings
Redrock Little League still has some openings for its 2004 spring season. The registration fee is $80 for T-ball and $95 for all other divisions.

Umpire program offered for teens
Marty Barrett Little League is offering a new umpire program for at-risk teenagers, ages 13-18, and is still accepting registration for boys and girls ages 5-16. Those interested can call 390-0039.
SOCCER
Mexican national team to play at UNLV
The Women's National Team of Mexico is scheduled to play a pair of exhibition games at the UNLV soccer complex, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against BYU and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against UNLV.
Mexico's women's team recently qualified for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, and former Mexican men's soccer star Leo Cuellar is the head coach. Tickets for each match cost $15 apiece and are available at Soccer World, The Jock Shop, Soccer Field and SportCo. Those interested can call Todd Abdalla at 528-4230.
FOOTBALL
Safety cards offered at Gladiators game
The Safety Station will provide safety identification cards to adults and children at the Las Vegas Gladiators-Chicago Rush Arena Football League game April 4 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Fans will be asked to put their loose change in a water bottle or milk jug and bring it to the game as a noisemaker. Fans will be asked to donate their jug to the Gladiators after the game, with all proceeds to go to The Safety Station. Those interested in tickets can call 731-4977.
Pop Warner league sets registration
The Southern Nevada Pop Warner Football Conference has scheduled registration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 3 and 24, May 15 and 29, June 12, 19 and 26, and July 10, 17, 24 and 25, at 2765 South Highland Drive.
The registration fee is $135 for players and $75 for cheerleaders and proof of address and a birth certificate is required. For information call 873-4096 or visit lasvegaspopwarner.com.

BASEBALL
Academy offers
hitting, pitching clinics
The Las Vegas Baseball Academy has scheduled hitting and pitching clinics April 3-5 at the Boys & Girls Club West, located at 2850 South Lindell Road. The clinics are open to ages 7 to 14, with the hitting session slated from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day and the pitching session slated from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day.

Hawks travel club
sets up tryouts
The Las Vegas Hawks travel baseball club is currently conducting individual and small group tryouts for its 11-and-under and 12-and-under teams (players born between Aug. 1, 1990 and July 31, 1993).
The Hawks are a Little League-friendly organization and have an aggressive tournament schedule planned this season. Those interested can call Alan at 524-3362.

Tour open to
ages 18 and older
The Fan 2 Athlete Golf Tour is offering registration for its upcoming season. The league is open to ages 18 and older and the registration fee is $25 per player.

CASA schedules
annual tournament
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Foundation has scheduled its annual golf tournament April 19 at Canyon Gate Country Club, located on West Sahara Avenue. The entry fee is $225 per person, or $800 per foursome for the four-person scramble and includes breakfast, lunch, trophies, awards and raffle prizes.
Nongolfers can donate $25 for the lunch and festivities. Sponsorships also are available and proceeds will benefit the CASA Foundation. Those interested can call 455-4306.
North Las Vegas club seeks members
The North Las Vegas Ladies Golf Club is looking for new members.

for LPGA event
Volunteers are needed for the LPGA Takefuji Classic, which is scheduled for April 12-17 at the Las Vegas Country Club. Duties will include assisting with television crews, gallery control, admission/will call, standard bearers, greens reporters, locker room, course operations and in the media center.
