MUSIC

Young musicians wanted for recitals

Teens and young adults ages 16 through 21 interested in a classical music career will have the opportunity to audition for the Young Artists Recital Series. Auditions are slated for Aug. 3 and 4 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Boulevard North. Auditions will be videotaped for review. Those selected will perform for 20 minutes in a free public recital in Reed Whipple's studio theatre. There is no audition fee. Call 229-2321 for information or to schedule an appointment.

Sunrise Singers to perform Sunday

Sunrise Baptist Church Sunrise Singers are scheduled to host "America, We Must Not Forget," a patriotic musical at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the church, 1780 Betty Lane. Those interested can call 452-8599.

Tropical photographs featured at museum

A Magic Web: The Tropical Forest of Barro Colorado Island, a collection of large-format color photographs, will be on display starting Tuesday at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History, on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. The museum hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested can call 895-3381.

RECREATION

Camp registration approaching

Registration begins today for Camp Silver Pines, a three-day, two-night camp for adults age 55 and older. The camp is slated to be held at the County's Camp Lee Canyon September 8-10. Interested participants can mail in registration forms or visit the West Flamingo Center at 6255 W. Flamingo Road starting Aug. 13. For more information, call 455-7742.

Boulevard Mall offers Kids Club

The Boulevard Mall is offering a free Kids Club, open to children ages 2-10. The club meets from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. every second Saturday and 4 to 5 p.m. every fourth Wednesday. Club members receive discounts, a membership card, a birthday surprise and free activities with each session.

The club meets in the rear of the food court for activities such as crafts, clown entertainment, balloon twisting, singing and shows.
