DEVELOPMENT

Various projects blossom around valley

Business Bank of Nevada recently announced a large building project of 150,000 square feet of Class A office space in Summerlin that will house the bank's new corporate headquarters, with additional plans for a full-service branch.

The project will be located on the southeast corner of West Charleston Boulevard and Pavilion Center Drive. Business Bank is also planning a 4,100-square-foot branch in Minden, on 0.65 acres of land it acquired from Net Development, and the bank recently funded a $5.4 million construction loan to build Centennial Academy, a private school in the Centennial Hills area of Las Vegas.

Parsons Bros. Rockeries recently completed construction of rock retaining walls at Mesa Ridge Village at Russell Road, near U.S. Highway 95 in Henderson.

The first phase of the Rio's $80 million transformation was recently completed with the re-opening of the Carnival World Buffet in April. Extensive construction continues on the Rio's porte cochere, front desk, lobby and Ipanema bar areas and is scheduled for completion in late August. The All American Bar & Grill is also undergoing a complete renovation, to be re-opened in September, and a $39 million expansion of the Pavilion Convention Center will add 60,000 square feet of convention space.

Shea Commercial recently announced plans to develop and broker more than 300,000 square feet of office condos in Las Vegas on nearly 40 acres. The projects, which total $32 million and are scheduled to break ground in the fourth quarter of this year, include Shea at Sunset, Shea at Shadow Crest, Shea at Warm Springs, Shea at Camino Al Norte and Shea at Desert Inn.

The law firm of Kolesar & Leatham has named David Alleman attorney.

Las Vegas Handyman Inc. has appointed Matthew Trott and Corey Pritchett to the position of field craftsman.

Kirvin Doak Communications has hired Beth Again to the position of account executive.

Plise Companies LLC has hired Kari Turnbow as leasing manager.

Community One Federal Credit Union has appointed Jim Falls as branch manager of the Horizon and Center Pointe branches, Michael Munkers as collections manager, Steve Littman as assistant manager at the Renaissance branch, Leslie Halvari-Banks as small business officer, and Jo Anne Kot as dealer relationship representative.

Colonial Bank of Nevada has appointed Jaemie Caporali as new customer sales representative.

TWC Construction Inc. has named Sharron M. Allen director of business development, and George E. Bean as senior estimator.

Pulte Homes has appointed Joe Whatley to the position of Las Vegas Division president, Julie Mercer to director of strategic marketing, Patrick Aulds and Rich Lange to vice president of operations within the Emerging Leader program, Mark Stover to vice president of purchasing, and Norma Machado to regional vice president of human resources.

Professionals earn higher positions

Harsch Investment Properties LLC has promoted Elena Alden to the position of property manager.

Pulte Homes has promoted Dea McDonald and to the position of area vice president of land development, Jack Bassett and John Mayer to vice president of land development, Heidi Bretthauer to director of land acquisition, and Jeremy Fritz and Matt Lawson to director of planning and engineering.

Giorgio Caffé and Ristorante and promoted Frank S. Micalizzi to the position of general manager.

Companies provide for community

Thanks to the assistance of a check from Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas, Perlman Architects and Deluca Liquor & Wine Ltd., 14 students and three chef instructors from the Community College of Southern Nevada will participate in the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany.

The CCSN Hot Food Team, made up of Christine Zarandin, Michael Sandoval, Lupe Castro, Ray Lloyd and Wendy Cohen, won the Nevada State championship in a competition last December and will represent the United States at the Culinary Olympics Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung.

The Rouse Co., owner and developer of the Fashion Show mall, has selected Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Nevada Ballet Theatre, American Red Cross and Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas as recipients of its 2004-05 Charitable Program. Each will receive complementary use of the The Great Hall at Fashion Show, a $25,000 value, to hold an event during the next 12 months.
