The Moulin Rouge's run was a short one, but the casino's role in the history of Las Vegas was significant. The success of the site, the first black-owned casino, was one of the factors that eventually led to desegregation of all Las Vegas resorts.

BLACK HISTORY: Separated society: Gallery exhibit explores the city's segregated past
In honor of Black History Month, Winchester Center Gallery, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, is displaying a series of photographs and historical information about the role of African-Americans in Las Vegas.
