Passion Parties make intimate purchases easier

Gatherings maintain emphasis on privacy

There's no reason to feel like a naughty child. No need for your face to turn red. And when it comes to privacy, that's a top priority.

Passion Parties sell intimate items for a couple's enjoyment and makes buying those items fun and informative. The parties are conducted in a hostess's home and, so far, are for women only.

Donna Boone is a Passion Party representative, (donnaboone@yourpassionconsultant.com). She said the line offered by Passion Parties is far different than items found in the XXX stores of Las Vegas.

"When I decided to do this, I purposely went downtown to one of those places just to see what they had," she said. "Mostly what I found was the things they sold were demeaning to women, things women would not find pleasurable."

By day, Boone is a nurse practitioner. It's a fact, she said, that makes women more at ease at Passion Parties. The parties are also kept relatively small, usually a gathering of no more than 12 people, so the comfort factor is higher.

Boone said husbands "are usually thrilled to send their wives off to these parties." She suggested some day Passion Parties will become a couple thing just like baby showers are no longer for women only.

To start things off, Boone has the women play an icebreaker game. One asks the ladies to come up with juicy or romantic words for different letters in the alphabet.

The word that immediately comes to mind for the letter "F," for example is, "flirt," right?

When the ladies are more relaxed, Boone talks about the various products. Boone knows to bring up the questions most people have, another tactic to mitigate embarrassment.

Perhaps best of all, ordering takes place in a separate room with the door closed. That way, women are free to ask personal questions before deciding what's best for them.

The Passion Parties line includes lingerie, lubricants and feathers for a playful tickling session. For Valentine's Day, it features items like a fuzzy, heart-shaped pillow with a secret compartment and a long, flowing gown in a heart print.

More adult items are available and include edible items, massage instruction videos, body paints and, very apropos for Las Vegas, Dirty Dice "where the odds are always in your favor."

Boone brings some of the more popular items to sell at the party so people can take them home that day.

Other items are shipped, arriving about five days later. They can be sent directly to the buyer's home or to the hostess for dispersal.

"I've had older women at these parties tell me, 'I was so scared when so-and-so took me to this party. But it was so good, so well done,' " Boone said.
