ABANDONED MINES: Filling dangerous gaps
Driving along U.S. Highway 93/95 as it winds its way through the town of Searchlight, population 822, one might get the impression that not much happens. Among some scattered old houses, there's a cement-brick senior center, a few shops advertising "wonderful junk," a couple of rural casinos, a general store and a post office.
