Baseball recruiter sets tryouts for Monday

VIEW NEWSPAPERS

Baseball Factory has scheduled open tryouts for its national tournament teams for all eighth-graders and high school baseball players, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Baseball Factory, which bills itself as the leader in player development and college placement, was rated the top college recruiting service in the nation by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association.

From the tryout, which will be run similar to a professional-style workout camp, players will be selected to join the USA Junior Olympic Tournament's 16-and-under squad, the International Baseball Championships' 17-and-under team, and the USABF World Series' 18-and-under team, as well as other prestigious tournament teams.

The tryouts are free to all players who participate and those interested should report to the field at 9 a.m. for registration. Attendance must be confirmed with Baseball Factory prior to the event.

Professional scouts and other Baseball Factory coaches will evaluate players on various aspects of the game, including speed, defense, pitching, hitting and arm strength.

Harry Grumet, Baseball Factory's three-time national championship coach, who launched the player development program to a national level, will evaluate players on the field and also will conduct a college recruiting question and answer session immediately following the tryout.

The Baseball Factory staff will discuss the college recruiting process and the steps players should take in order to increase their chances of playing college baseball and receiving scholarships. Baseball Factory professionals will share their experiences, knowledge and connections within the college baseball community.

Those interested in the tryout and seminar can call Justin Roswell at 805-451-8203.
